Description:
Manuel Sáinz and Santiago Gustavo Lomello will explain the ongoing Tijuana roadway project and how its right of way has been a multifaceted challenge. They will share life stories of the inhabitants involved and a general description of the project, including a discussion about the border and its unique environment, which impacts hundreds of migrants and presents security issues in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tijuana. They will share the strategy they followed to release the right of way, including building rapport with state and local government authorities, adapting to changes in government administration, an audit, an intensive socialization of the project, a stage of conciliation, the expropriation of properties and relocation. Manuel and Santiago will discuss the progress on the release of the Tijuana roadway right of way, the status and concrete lessons learned. Speakers:
