Course Description:  800 Principles of Real Estate Law

INSTRUCTOR:
Mary Dorman, Esq.,
manages HDR’s Real Estate Services team in the Florida, Alabama and Mississippi area, and also has a regional role to support business development for Real Estate Services in the Southeast.Ms. Dorman serves as Project Manager on both FDOT and local government projects, and has over 25 years of real property, transportation and eminent domain experience. She is a licensed attorney in Florida and Washington State, is a Florida Supreme Court certified mediator, and has Florida and Georgia real estate licenses.As a young lawyer, Ms. Dorman and her inter-disciplinary team won two “Davis Productivity” awards for saving millions of taxpayer dollars by establishing some of the first wetland mitigation banks used on Florida transportation projects.As an Eminent Domain Bureau Chief at the Attorney General’s office, Ms. Dorman managed a large legal staff and represented various agency clients in condemnation and real property litigation matters.After her public sector employment, Ms. Dorman co-founded a private law firm and represented condemnors as well as private property owners and private business owners in acquisition and condemnation matters.Over her career, she has participated in nearly 1,000 mediations as either a party or as a mediator.Likewise, she has worked on hundreds of projects and thousands of parcels, and dealt with all different types of properties inlcuding high rise office builidings, manufacturing plants, regional malls, and large acerage tracts with development entitlements.Ms. Dorman has lectured extensively on eminent domain matters, and is an IRWA-certified instructor.She is AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating available from this prestigious national peer review rating service for lawyers and judges.
