COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this course is to provide you with an overview of the oil and gas industry in Canada. You will learn about the applicable legislation and regulation related to oil and gas projects located within the Northwest Territories and the Yukon, Offshore, within each Province as well as Federal projects that cross provincial, territorial and international boundaries. You will gain an understanding of up-, mid- and downstream activities, applications and approvals. Throughout the course you will be able to apply basic industry knowledge, tools and best practices to scenario-based exercises, which will culminate in the Team Challenge.


TARGET AUDIENCE: 
 

          ●   Entry level professionals working in the oil and gas industry
   ●   Intermediate level professionals working on oil and gas projects
   ●   Senior level professionals managing oil and gas projects

Credentialing: 
This course can be applied towards qualifying education credit for the RWP and SR/WA under the previous Generalist program and can be used for re-certification credit. This course is also applicable as an elective toward the R/W-NAC and R/W-AMC programs.

INSTRUCTOR:
Janet I. Walker, SR/WA, BGS, MA-IS (AE) is an IRWA CLIMB Certified Instructor and a VEIT Instructor. She is Vice Chair of the Partnership for Infrastructure Professional Education and is the 2013 Frank C. Balfour Award recipient. Janet has a Masters with a major in Adult Education and an undergraduate degree minor in Workplace Learning.  Janet has 21 years in the right-of-way profession: 17 years with the National Energy Board and 4 years with ConocoPhillips’ Canada. She has experience negotiating complex agreements, designing project information packages, developing regulatory processes, creating the federal landowner complaint resolution program and managing projects.
