Mr. Howd worked in the Transportation Division from 1994 through 2008 and represented MDOT in a variety of matters involving property acquisition, condemnation litigation, and environmental issues. He was involved in all of MDOT’s condemnation appeals and oversaw MDOT's condemnation litigation. Since 2021, he has represented the Mackinac Straits Corridor Authority in connection with Enbridge's proposed pipeline tunnel under the Straits, and the Michigan Department of Military Affairs in connection with a runway shift at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Mr. Howd has been the Michigan Chapter 7 committee chair on law and legislation and frequently presented at IRWA meetings and conferences. He co-chaired the CLE International Michigan conferences on Eminent Domain in 2002, 2004, and 2005. In addition, Mr. Howd has given numerous other group presentations on issues concerning environmental law, property acquisition, and condemnation law and strategy.
