Course Description:   
This two-day intermediate-level course is designed to equip you with practical project management skills specifically tailored for right of way (ROW) professionals. You will learn to apply industry-standard Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) principles while complying with other regulatory standards such as the federal Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act (URA).

  • Integrating project management practices with URA compliance requirements  

  • Roles and responsibilities of the ROW project manager  

  • Project procurement, scope management, and cost control

  • Earned Value Management (EVM) for project performance tracking  

  • Stakeholder engagement and communication planning  

  • Project closeout procedures and ROW certification  

  • Managing project challenges and recovering failing projects  
     

IRWA Credentialing:  
This course may be applied toward 16 hours of recertification toward of any of IRWA’s credentials, may be used as an elective for the SR/WA Pathway, and is a requirement for the IRWA’s upcoming R/W-PM certification.  

Instructor: 
Mary Anne Marr, SR/WA has over 30 years of experience in infrastructure real estate profession. Mary Anne most recently served as the Director of Real Estate for Consumers Energy, a Michigan based utility providing electric service to 1.8 million customers and gas service to 1.7 million customers.  Her responsibilities included acquisition, management, and disposition of all real estate holdings. Mary Anne has been involved in multiple large-scale real estate divestitures, acquisitions and infrastructure projects with recent emphasis on renewable energy projects including wind and solar development. Mary Anne has been involved in IRWA leadership, serving at both the chapter and regional level.  She is also served as President of the International Right of Way Association from 2016-2017.
