Please note:  On May 3, 2024, the Federal Highway Administration published revisions to the Final Rule, amending the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 (URA) regulations. IRWA is currently updating related course materials to reflect these changes. Attention Easement Right of Way (ERW) Agents:
IRWA is now approved as a Qualifying Education (QE) Provider for TREC-ERW.  Please follow the guidelines below so you may be credited with the correct education credits.
 
For Agents who hold the ERW license:
After taking and passing the exam for either Course 100 or Course 803, please ask you course coordinator for the TREC-ERW roster. Complete and sign the roster, and then ask the course coordinator to forward it to Maggie Schedler at  Maggie.Schedler@atkinsglobal.com. She will post this information to the TREC education posting website. 
 
 
If you took the course virtually, please go to https://irwaregion2.org/CEProcess and fill out the form. If you are requesting TREC (Real Estate Agent or Broker) or TALCB credits, IRWA has 10 days (this includes weekends) to report your credits.  Please follow the link provided to request your TREC/TALCB credits.
 
For future ERW agents:
After passing the QE course, please send a PDF copy of your IRWA course completion certificate to documents@trec.texas.gov.

Course Description:  100 Principles of Land Acquisition

INSTRUCTOR:

Gordon E. MacNair (Gord), SR/WA, AACI, P.App., is a Senior Infrastructure Real Estate Advisor with MacNair Consulting Inc., bringing decades of experience in infrastructure real estate, land assembly, and right-of-way acquisition.
Gord previously served as Director of the Corporate Real Estate Office for the City of Ottawa, where he led a multidisciplinary team responsible for all real estate matters related to major infrastructure projects. In this role, he and his environmental team were instrumental in developing and overseeing the City’s Environmental Remediation Unit, supporting complex land acquisition and redevelopment initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Gord worked with a major utility company as a Project Supervisor, where he was responsible for acquiring right-of-way for large-scale high-voltage transmission projects.
Gord is a certified instructor for both the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) and the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC), and has authored numerous articles on infrastructure real estate, land assembly, environmental and negotiation practices. He has delivered courses and seminars in infrastructure real estate in person across Canada and the United States, as well as internationally in South Africa and the UK. He  has also facilitated IRWA virtual courses for audiences in Australia and Saudi Arabia.
A long-standing leader within the IRWA, Gord served as International President and is a past Chair of the International Relations Committee, reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional education and global collaboration within the infrastructure real estate profession.
